California formation records for prospect research.

Delivery timing is confirmed before activation. Source publication delays, holidays and collection status can affect when records become available. A collected record count is not a guarantee of a complete statewide batch.

What California publishes

Read the published fields in context.

California formation documents and Statements of Information are separate filings. Later documents can supply additional roles and addresses. Confirm which events and updates are currently included before assuming a delivered record or CRM entry updates automatically.

Fields to review in a sample

  • Entity name and 12-digit file number
  • Type: LLC, corporation, LP or LLP
  • Filing date and status
  • Agent for service of process
  • Managers and officers once filed
  • Principal and mailing address
  • Email and phone where matched

Understand the agent role

A registered agent receives legal documents for the company. Hiring a commercial agent does not establish that the company is a shell, lacks an operating address, or has no useful contacts. Check the principal or mailing address and named officials separately; an agent address alone does not locate the operating business.

Commercial-agent use alone is not a reason to exclude an entity. Assess its principal address, available contacts and operating evidence separately.

California questions

Before you start.

Where does the California data come from?

The California Secretary of State, Business Programs Division — the registry behind bizfile. Current collection, fields and delivery coverage are confirmed before activation.

Do I get the Statement of Information data too?

Confirm which events, updates and fields are currently included in a sample and in the delivery agreed before activation. Later source filings are separate events; their existence does not guarantee automatic updates to a previously imported CRM record.

Are foreign registrations included?

Confirm whether foreign registrations are included in your agreed file before activation. A foreign registration concerns an entity formed elsewhere; it is a different event from a new domestic formation. Check the source event and entity-type fields in a current sample before building separate cohorts.
