Wyoming · Secretary of State

Every new Wyoming company, every morning.

Wyoming registers far more companies than its population would suggest, because it sells privacy. Here’s what that means for the data you’d actually receive.

What Wyoming publishes

Wyoming’s product is not telling you who owns the company.

Wyoming doesn’t require members or managers on the articles of organization, and its low fees and privacy rules have made it a national formation destination. The registered agent is often the only party named on the filing.

On every Wyoming record

  • Entity name and filing ID
  • Type: LLC, corporation, LP or statutory trust
  • Formation date and status
  • Registered agent and registered office
  • Principal address where supplied
  • Contact details only where independently matched

Read this before you buy Wyoming

Most Wyoming entities are formed by owners living somewhere else, through agent services in Cheyenne and Sheridan. Those filings give you a mail-forwarding address and a company name.

We exclude them, so a Wyoming feed is much smaller than the state’s filing count. What’s left is businesses genuinely operating in Wyoming — which is a real market, just not a large one.

Wyoming questions

Before you start.

Where does the Wyoming data come from?

The Wyoming Secretary of State, Business Division. New filings are pulled every business day.

How much volume should I expect?

Considerably less than Wyoming’s headline filing numbers. We’d rather tell you that now than sell you a state that arrives near-empty. If you serve Casper, Cheyenne or the energy corridor, it’s worth having; as a volume play, it isn’t.
