How to find out who owns a company in Missouri
Missouri asks LLCs to declare their management structure on the articles, then never asks them anything again.
Short answer: Search the entity on the Secretary of State’s business search. The articles of organization state whether the LLC is member-managed or manager-managed and name the organizers — and because Missouri requires no LLC annual report, that filing may be the only record that ever exists.
Read the management declaration first
Missouri articles must state how the LLC is managed. Member-managed means the people named run and own it. Manager-managed means the named manager may be neither. It’s a small field that changes how you open a conversation.

Corporations are the exception
Missouri corporations do file annual registration reports naming officers and directors. LLCs don’t. So if the entity is a corporation you have a refreshed, reliable source; if it’s an LLC you have whatever was true on the day it formed.
When you need more
The fictitious name registration is Missouri’s most useful fallback — required to trade under any name other than the legal one, and it names the owners with their ownership percentages. That last detail is rare, and it’s worth checking even when the articles gave you a name.
