How to find out who owns a company in Florida

Why Florida is unusually generous
Most states will give you a registered agent and stop. Florida’s articles of organization name the managing members or managers directly, and the annual report refreshes them every year. That combination makes Florida records the most complete of any high-volume state.
How to search
- Go to Sunbiz, the Division of Corporations’ public search.
- Search by entity name, or by officer or registered agent name if you’re working backwards from a person.
- Open the record. Managers, authorized persons and officers are listed with addresses.
- Check the most recent annual report for the current version — the original filing can be years out of date.
The officer-name search is worth knowing about. It lets you find every Florida entity connected to one person, which few states allow.
When you hit a mail-forwarding address
Florida has a very high rate of bulk filing by agent services, and those records show a Tallahassee or Miami suite that dozens of unrelated companies share. If the address looks like that, you’ve found the filing service rather than the business — check the annual report, which often carries a real address once the company starts trading.
