How to find out who owns a company in Georgia
Georgia can identify organizers and registered agents; annual officer disclosures depend on the entity type.
Short answer: Search the Corporations Division record and filing history. An organizer is not necessarily an owner. Georgia corporate annual registrations name officers, but LLC annual registrations do not generally disclose a member, manager or officer roster.
Two filings, two kinds of name
An organizer signs the formation document and can be a member, lawyer or filing service. Corporate officer disclosures identify management roles. For an LLC, annual registration updates the principal office and registered agent without necessarily naming owners.
Compare filing dates and role labels. A newer annual registration can update addresses, but does not turn an organizer or agent into an owner.
How to search
- Open the Corporations Division business search.
- Search by business name, or by registered agent or officer name to work backwards from a person.
- Open the record and check the filing history.
- Open the latest annual registration for the principal office and registered agent; corporations also list officers.
A Georgia-specific catch
Georgia LLC records need not name members. An annual registration may help with address research but is not an owner roster. County trade-name filings and other public records may provide additional leads; verify that a name relates to the entity you are researching.

Most Georgia formation activity sits inside the metro, and the principal office address on the annual registration is the field to filter on if you’re building a territory rather than researching one company.
