Ohio formation records for prospect research.

Delivery timing is confirmed before activation. Source publication delays, holidays and collection status can affect when records become available. A collected record count is not a guarantee of a complete statewide batch.

What Ohio publishes

Read the published fields in context.

Available city, ZIP and county fields can help organise territory research. Verify the operating address and your service boundaries; a registered-office location does not establish the prospect’s market.

Fields to review in a sample

  • Entity name and charter number
  • Type: LLC, corporation, LP or LLP
  • Filing date and status
  • Statutory agent and agent address
  • Incorporators where the filing lists them
  • Principal business address
  • Email and phone where matched

Understand the agent role

A registered agent receives legal documents for the company. Hiring a commercial agent does not establish that the company is a shell, lacks an operating address, or has no useful contacts. Check the principal or mailing address and named officials separately; an agent address alone does not locate the operating business.

Commercial-agent use alone is not a reason to exclude an entity. Assess its principal address, available contacts and operating evidence separately.

Ohio questions

Before you start.

Where does the Ohio data come from?

The Ohio Secretary of State, Business Services Division. Current collection and delivery coverage is confirmed before activation.

Can I split the three metros?

Use city, ZIP or other geographic fields where available to organise research. Confirm the delivered columns and verify actual operations before targeting a territory. A filing jurisdiction, registered office or agent address does not establish the operating location.

Does Ohio require annual reports?

Ohio does not generally require annual reports from LLCs. Check later filings and independent business evidence rather than assuming the original formation details stay current or that contacting a company in its first week has a proven advantage.
