How to find out who owns a company in Kansas
Kansas asks LLCs to disclose members holding five percent or more, which is a genuine ownership threshold rather than a management list.

A five percent threshold, not a job title
Most states publish whoever manages the company. Kansas asks a different question: who owns a meaningful share of it. Members at or above five percent must be listed on the biennial information report, which gets you closer to actual ownership than a manager field ever does.
Use the disclosed names and ownership interests as a starting point. The number of names does not establish who controls purchasing decisions or whether the business has begun operating.

- Search by business name or entity ID.
- Open the record for resident agent, registered office and status.
- Open the most recent biennial information report for the member disclosures.
The reporting deadline moves
Kansas changed to biennial information reports in 2024. An entity formed in an even-numbered year reports in even years; an entity formed in an odd-numbered year reports in odd years. For-profit reports are due April 15 and nonprofit reports June 15. Check the filing date and the actual disclosures rather than assuming the report is annual or follows an unknown fiscal year.
