New business leads, straight from the state registry
Every new company is a stack of first-time purchases waiting to happen. The formation record tells you who they are the day they file — before they’re in any lead database.
Why new businesses convert: A company registered this week needs insurance, banking, bookkeeping, payroll, a website, merchant services, and supplies — and hasn’t picked a vendor for any of them yet. You’re not displacing an incumbent; you’re the first call.
What makes formation records the best lead source
Most lead lists are recycled. The same contact records get sold and re-sold, and by the time a lead reaches you it has already been called by everyone else who bought the list. Business formation records are different: they’re generated fresh every day by the state itself, and they carry the fields you actually need — the entity name, entity type, the people behind it, and a real address.
The timing is the entire advantage. Response rates on new-formation outreach are highest in the first days after filing, when the owner is actively setting the business up and making buying decisions daily. A lead from a list that’s six months stale isn’t the same product.
Who uses new formation leads
- Insurance agents — every new entity needs general liability, and many need workers’ comp from day one.
- Banks and merchant services — business checking and payment processing are opened in the first weeks.
- Accountants and bookkeepers — entity setup, tax elections, and payroll registration happen immediately.
- Web, marketing and signage — a new company needs to be visible before it can trade.
- Commercial suppliers — equipment, uniforms, vehicles, and supplies for the industries you serve.
What’s in each record
Depending on the state: entity name and type, filing date, registered agent or office, organizers, officers or managing members, and addresses. Some states disclose more than others — see which states publish LLC member names for the state-by-state breakdown, and what’s in a formation record for the field-level detail.
One thing we do that raw registry pulls don’t: agent-formed shell entities are stripped before your file lands, so you’re not paying to call registered-agent suites. More on that in why agent addresses ruin lead lists.
How delivery works
- Pick your states — any of the 50 states plus DC, priced per state.
- Every morning by 8am, the previous day’s new formations arrive as a CSV in your inbox, or via the REST API if you’d rather pull them into your CRM.
- Call, mail, or load them into your outreach sequence while they’re still new.
Frequently asked questions
Are new business leads better than purchased lead lists?
They’re fresher and less contested. A purchased list has been worked by every prior buyer; a formation record from yesterday has typically been contacted by no one. The trade-off is that you qualify them yourself — the registry doesn’t score intent.
How fast do I get new filings?
Daily, by 8am, covering the previous day’s registrations in your states. Fresh data is the product — there’s no weekly batch or monthly export lag.
Can I get owner contact details?
Where the state discloses them. States like Florida name managing members with addresses on the filing; others show only an organizer or registered office. The per-state pages describe exactly what each registry publishes.
