Industry playbook

New business prospects for B2B sales teams

Add recent business registrations to your prospecting workflow, then qualify which entities fit your offer. Formations Feed helps sales teams build a dated research queue for the states they serve, alongside referrals, inbound enquiries and other prospecting sources.

Find prospects that fit your offer

The aim is a useful account list, not the largest possible list. A filing can reveal an entity that deserves research, but it does not establish revenue, headcount, budget or purchasing interest. Keep a raw prospect separate from a qualified opportunity.

Services you could help a business with

Territory and account research

Select filing jurisdictions, then verify operating addresses and service areas. Domestic formations and foreign registrations can represent different business events.

Outbound prospecting and account development

Research an observed need, match the offer to the business and check the relevant role before contacting anyone. Combine source records with your own account knowledge.

CRM building and channel partnerships

Map the file into your internal CRM or spreadsheet, deduplicate against existing accounts and record provenance. Research possible referral or channel partners as well as direct customers.

Useful fields for your research

Entity ID, name and jurisdiction
Use identifiers to avoid merging different entities with similar names. The filing state is not necessarily the operating state.
Filing date, entity type and status
Keep cohorts separate and confirm that the record describes the business event you want to target. Status does not prove active trading.
Published roles, addresses and available contacts
Verify the right person for your offer. Organisers, agents and managers have different roles; an appended number may not be a decision-maker direct dial.

Fields vary by state and record. Read the field guide and review a sample before relying on a column. Formation state, agent address and operating location are different facts.

A practical qualification workflow

  1. Define an ideal customer profile using facts your team can actually verify.
  2. Choose states, inspect a sample and agree the fields and delivery timing before activation.
  3. Import into a staging sheet, check the identifiers and remove duplicates against your existing account list.
  4. Research operating evidence, territory and the business problem your product addresses.
  5. Move only suitable, verified prospects into outreach. Record conversations, opt-outs and next steps in your existing sales process.

Two ways to use the signal

Illustrative scenarios · not customer results

Territory research for a local supplier

An illustrative sales team supplies packaging to businesses in one region. It reviews recent filings, researches which entities sell physical products and verifies the shipping location. Businesses outside its delivery area stay out of the campaign, even if registered in a selected state.

An account-development signal

An illustrative software vendor finds a new entity connected to an existing customer group. The team checks the relationship and asks its existing contact whether a separate workflow is needed. The filing supports account research rather than triggering a duplicate cold campaign.

An example first approach

Illustrative message · use verified observations

Hello, we help regional product businesses manage repeat packaging orders. I noticed your public product launch and wanted to ask whether packaging supply is something your team is reviewing. If so, I can send a concise overview of the quantities and service area we support.

The public launch is an illustrative observation. Replace it with verified evidence and respect your organisation’s outreach and suppression processes.

Use an appropriate contact channel and your normal outreach, opt-out and suppression processes. Having a record does not establish a need or guarantee a response.

Frequently asked questions

Are the records sales-qualified leads?

No. They are prospecting records. Your team must establish operating status, fit, contact relevance and interest before treating an account as qualified.

Can I use the feed with our CRM?

Delivered CSV or XLSX files can support a manual import where your CRM accepts them. Check field mapping and deduplication first. Customer API access is planned.

How should we measure results?

Keep filing cohorts and source tags, then compare researched accounts, suitable prospects, conversations and opportunities. Do not treat a downloaded row as a customer.

Research state-specific availability

These guides explain differences in published records. A listed state is not confirmation of active delivery; coverage is confirmed before activation.
